Sunday Sorrows: A country in free fall.

 *Sighs and shakes his head*

Hey everybody.

Today I want to talk about something pretty serious.  Occasionally I will be posting articles like this about more... unpleasant topics. By no means do I want these kind of posts to be the norm, but I do feel that they need to be discussed.

I am an American.  Not something I am particularly proud of at this time, but alas it is what I am.  Everyone in the world pretty much knows what is happening here recently and over the last several years.  Shootings in schools and at all kinds of businesses.  Rights being stripped away left and right.  The perpetual racism and genocidal actions towards people of color and minority groups.  It is a total crap shoot here these days.

My country is basically one big human rights violation that keeps getting ignored.

It affects all Americans whether we like to admit it or not, in some small or big way we might not realize.  People of color have dealt with it for generations reaching back to the founding of the country and beyond.  The LGBTQIA+ community is taking a hard hit right now, specifically Trans people.  I know a few and love them dearly, and to see what they are going through and be helpless to provide any kind of assistance is heartbreaking.  Watching the news, I see their rights vanish, see them vilified, watch as those who have been rightfully elected are silenced and with them the voices of everyone they swore to serve.

Americans stand by as Christianity rapes and violates our laws, our children, and our rights.  As its members in this country actively seek to do away with separation of religion and state so that they can outlaw the belief or refusal to believe in anything else and force their views and tenants down our throats. Now I am not Christian myself, and that said, this comes off a little as bias.  Maybe it is.  But you have Christians tell you that they wished that they could kill you because you wouldn't talk about the bible with them.  It will make you feel a little bias I am sure.

Somewhere along the way we lost our way.  The land of the brave and the home of the free does not exist any more.  It has become the land of the rich and the home of the increasingly oppressed.

I really do not feel that it is something will be fixed with elections or passing more laws...  I feel like it is something that will require violent change and martyrs.  All significant change happens because of consequences being met out. The fall of the corruption in Rome, the gaining of independence for countries the world over, the end of world wars.  These required violent and bloody efforts to happen.  Things that we never want to see happen are often necessary catalyst to bring about the changes needed to improve our world.

I am just a nobody really.  An average person of no real importance when it comes to making change.  I have no aspirations to lead a revolution or bring down the establishment myself.  But I am happy to lend my small voice to the cacophony of voices that are rising.  The voices of the oppressed and the violated are rising and won't be silenced despite the best efforts of those in power.

It is my hope that if you read this and it touches your heart you will say something too and lend your heart to those in need of your voice.

*Waves goodbye*
